WASHINGTON -- The Homeland Security Department says "The zombies are coming!"

Our  government urged citizens last Thursday to prepare for a zombie apocalypse.  Not Rob or White...like the flesh eating kind. The actual information regarding zombies is part of a public health campaign to encourage better preparation for genuine disasters and emergencies.  The DHS says their theory is: If you're prepared for a zombie attack, the same preparations will help during a hurricane, pandemic, earthquake or terrorist attack.

F.E.M.A. hosted an online seminar for its Citizen Corps organization that helps emergency planners better prepare their communities. The C.D.C. jumped on the zombie train last year when they first launched a zombie apocalypse social media campaign for the same purposes.  For the Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse guide from the CDC CLICK HERE.

Among the recommendations?

-Have an emergency evac plan
-Have a change of clothes
-Keep fresh water on hand along with extra medications and emergency flashlights.

Several news sites pointed out that a few of the suggestions came close to some of the 33 rules for dealing with zombies popularized in the 2009 movie "Zombieland," which included "always carry a change of underwear" and "when in doubt, know your way out."
