I know people don't like to hear about gun control, but there has to be a way to keep a-holes like this from having weapons.

Maybe background checks are enough up front, but what would REALLY cut down on issues, and save responsible gun owners from having to lose their toys, would be to prosecute these type of people properly. We give massive sentences to non-violent criminals, and this guy will probably get probation.

If responsible gun owners want to stem the tide against them, they need to start making their voices heard. This guy should be charged with Attempted Murder. You start putting guys like this away for 25-30 years, and you will see a quick drop in dumb-asses with guns. Then you and I can go about our business, head to the range, hit the deer stand, or apply for a concealed carry permit without having to worry about losing that right.
