Yes, there really is a 'World Championship' for air guitar. Is it a talent contest? Is it a sport? Does it matter? Over 5,000 people showed up at the city center in Oulu, Finland to watch the 17th Air Guitar World Championship. That's right, it's actually happened SIXTEEN TIMES BEFORE!!! And it's not an Olympic sport yet? WTF?!?!?

This time around, 18 contestants from around the world gathered to battle for the grand prize -- a real guitar. A prize none of them have any idea how to play.

American Justin "Nordic Thunder" Howard mugged his way to the title this year, followed closely by another American, Matt “Airistotle” Burns. I think I speak for all Americans when I say...today, I'm truly embarrassed to be American. And I feel a little dumber for having actually watched this video coverage of the event. Check it out for yourself - it's like getting stoned...without the fun side effects.
