The Five Coolest Things About Blizzcon 2013
Blizzard hosted its huge gaming convention in Aniehiem, CA over the November 9th weekend. If you’re unfamiliar with Blizzard, they’re the folks who brought you Diablo, Starcraft, Warcraft, and World of Warcraft. This Blizzcon, they announced the new expansion for WOW, and a new game too! Here’s the skinny if you missed out.
First of all here’s the announcement trailer of the new World of Warcraft Expansion called “Warlords of Draenor’
I’d call it impressive, granted this is NOT the cinematic experience that folks are used to. Here’s an example of a Blizzard cinematic … What attendees saw at blizcon 2013 is like what they saw at BlizzCon 2007. One is a tease of what’s coming, the other is more polished presentation of what it is.
The second thing that’s awesome is the item squish.
What does this mean? It means right now it’s not unheard of to see a critical hit of over 1,000,000. These numbers are obviously getting large. I won’t bore you with the math of it all, just know the numbers are so big computers can’t handle them anymore. So EVERYTHING is getting squished and more inline. See following
But wait! I might want to go back and solo old content! … don’t worry.
Blizzard assures its player base that you’ll still be able to do old content solo if you so choose. So, your numbers go down, but EVERYTHINGS numbers go down.
The third thing that’s awesome news and long overdue. All playable characters are getting updated graphics.
Nothing to say beyond this picture. I mean really what more needs to be said. This game is 8 or 9 years old and the polygon count before was like what 10 … now it looks way more fluid. Looks more like a game people would play in the game 2013, instead of 2005.
One set of gear is all you need.
Hybrid classes rejoice no longer do you need a tanking set, a healing set and a dps set. You just need the highest item level in your slot then boom. Good to go. I say that but what about gems? What about enchants? Regardless, gone are the days of a druid tanking with int leather. And that’s a good thing.
Blizzard announced a new game.
If you’re familiar with League of Legends you know all about MOBA’s I do not. So, I had to do some research. You basically play a hero (in this case a hero from one of Blizzards franchises) and try to destroy the base of the apposing hero. Or something. This new game system makes me a cranky old man and wants to tell the people into MOBA’s to get off my lawn, because it’s new and scary to me and my old man ways.
Well there you have it, what say you? Are you pumped about HOTS or WOD? What about the features any of them have you pumped? Let us know.
