Since lost tracks always seem to surface just before a band is ready for a reissue or a “special edition remaster,” they’re often rightly looked upon with suspicion. But Pantera proves sometimes the reason a song doesn’t make an album is that it simply didn’t play nicely with the other tracks.
Hellyeah are diving headfirst into the promotion of their third album ‘Band of Brothers.’ The boys shot the video for the title track this week and posted photos from the fiery set.
We’ve got good news if you’re a patient fan of blood and guts films, and bad news if you’re not. Philip Anselmo, a renowned horror hound who absolutely loves that film genre, will launch his first-ever Housecore Horror Film Festival in Austin, Texas. However, the festival, named after the singer’s label, is scheduled for October 2013.
Happy birthday to Pantera and Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul, who turns 48 today. Even as he approaches the age of 50, the drummer still smashes away at the skins, using his arms and legs in ways that most men his age couldn’t even consider at this point. But he’s still got plenty of gas left in the tank.
A metalhead’s work is never done. The always-prolific Phil Anselmo, who always seems to have several irons in the metal fire, is working hard on some brand new solo material. The former Pantera singer, who has also recently been laying down tracks on a Down EP, is working with a band on this other project, according to his boarder Mike Williams of Eyehategod fame.
Another Dimebash is in the books. Dimebash is a celebration of legacy of Pantera guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, and rockers came out in drove to the Key Club in Hollywood last night to participate.
The lineup for the second annual DimeBash has been announced. The show is a tribute to the late, great guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott, who tragically was gunned down seven years ago today, Dec. 8, in Ohio while doing what he loved most: playing guitar. He was performing with his post-Pantera band Damageplan when a disturbed fan opened fire at close range and shot him.
Hard to believe it will be 7 years since Dimebag Darrel was shot and killed in a club in Columbus, OH. I still remember the days when Pantera was a Hair Metal Cover band in Dallas...then it all changed and I was hooked...Cowboys From Hell arrived...
Another great show at the Riverside Warehouse. River Blindness, Moira Red, and the reunited Cold. Okay, I know they've been back together since 2009, but I haven't seen them since they opened for Staind and Godsmack at the Coliseum...what? 100 years ago? So, to me, I was seeing the reunited Cold. Pacify me, will ya?!?
If you are a parent you hope you'll have a cool kid. No one wants a nerd in the family, unless they turn out like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs.
This kid, Jonah, takes the cake are far a coolness goes. I have no idea how old he is, looks to be 18 months or so, but he is a metal head through and through.
After the jump check out the one baby mosh pit with Johan rockin' out, fist pumps and all, to Pante
