"Rock bassist" isn't exactly the most financially stable career, but Duff McKagan has proven an exception to the rule -- not only by virtue of his membership in major bands like Guns 'N' Roses and Velvet Revolver, but also because of the dollar sense he picked up when he enrolled in college later in life.

After a few decades on the road, Duff McKagan has learned a thing or two about how to keep people from going crazy when they're stuck with each other for extended periods of time. The former Guns N' Roses bassist shared a bit of that wisdom in his latest column for the Seattle Weekly, titled 'Top 12 Tour Bus Rules and No-Nos.'

Duff McKagan is taking a little different approach to promoting 'The Taking' album, as he's got a full-length film that goes along with the music. McKagan and his band Loaded intend to show off the new movie in a series of 10 vignettes that will roll out on the band's YouTube page.

Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan writes a weekly column for the Seattle Weekly, and this week he revealed that the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 threw him into a deep depression. McKagan said he had wondered why others just couldn't "snap out of it" before 9/11 happened.

Slash fans in Seattle were treated to a 'mini Guns 'N Roses reunion' Friday night when Duff McKagan popped up at the former's show at the Showbox SoDo. Slash and Duff were last seen onstage together at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony back in April, so needless to say, the crowd exploded when Duff hopped onstage to join Slash for a couple of Guns 'N Roses classics:

Last weekend was New York’s CBGB Festival, and judging from the reports, saying that it rocked would be an understatement. The festival was put together to help commemorate the history of the legendary club, one known for its underground culture and utter grungy rock feel.

By now we all know how things went down at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies last night - Axl was a no show (or was...is...he just veeeeerrrrryyyy late???).  He said he wasn't going to be there, and true to his word...he wasn't.  That didn't stop the rest of the guys from Guns 'N' Roses (from various versions of G 'N' R) from accepting the honor - with class.

After a tumultuous few weeks that saw both Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin bail from attending Guns N’ Roses induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the band members who showed up to accept the honors — Slash, Steven Adler, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan — did so with style.

As the bassist for Guns N’ Roses, Duff McKagan was paid quite handsomely. But at the time, he didn’t really have a firm grasp on the ins and outs of his earnings. He does now.
