Ozzy Osbourne Says Black Sabbath Contract Disagreement With Bill Ward Never Got Heated

Bill Ward is not part of the Black Sabbath reunion, but Ozzy Osbourne reiterated that there’s still a chance things could work out because the relationship during the disagreement never turned bitter.

The singer told The Times [via Blabbermouth], “There was no row. There was no argument. The door ain’t closed. Whether we work something out up the road, I don’t know.” Guitarist Tony Iommi echoed those sentiments, adding, “It’s not a personal thing. If he phoned us up tomorrow, which he hasn’t, but if he did…”

Ward has been very upfront publicly in detailing his contractual dispute, but has always stated that the door was open and he was good to go if something could be worked out. However, Osbourne recently stated that the requests that were received from Ward were unreasonable. Iommi also stated that while there was an attempt to work things out, it’s just not happening.

Black Sabbath played the Download festival in June, and will perform at Lollapalooza next month in Chicago, but they haven’t booked any further dates due to Iommi’s recovery from chemotherapy treatments for cancer. In the interim, Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler have been playing many of the markets they hoped to hit with Black Sabbath under the moniker ‘Ozzy and Friends.’

Tommy Cluefetos, who filled in for Ward on the previous Black Sabbath dates, has been part of the run and musicians such as Slash and Zakk Wylde have performed at dates.
