Louisiana Welcomes Hollywood Productions Over the Summer
Hollywood is moving into Louisiana this summer. Not literally, of course, but a number of La-La Land producers are preparing to shoot several large budget productions across the state.
The Associated Press reports confirmed summer shoots scheduled for the movies ‘Fantastic Four,’ ‘Terminator 5,’ ‘Pitch Perfect 2,’ and ‘Jurassic World,’ as well as television shows ‘NCIS: New Orleans,’ and ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show.’
Not only does the idea of moving-making in Louisiana stir excitement in the local communities, but it also creates business opportunities and jobs for the locals -- $810 million was spent by production companies in 2013, according to Louisiana Entertainment, thanks to the state offering up to 40 percent in tax credits.
"Now we represent about 14,000 jobs, up from roughly zero 10 years ago, and that's a pretty important thing for us to do," Will French, with the Louisiana Film and Entertainment Association told the Associated Press.
Louisiana is also starting to see a surge in television productions, with a new show called ‘Salem’ filming in Shreveport.
