Lars Ulrich: Drummer. Rockstar. Art Collector. Actor?
For almost 30 years, we’ve known Lars Ulrich as the height-challanged, opinionated, hard-hitting, Napster-killing drummer of Metallica. That’s enough to keep most people occupied, right? Not Lars, who in recent years has become quite the collector – and seller – of fine art. No blacklight posters on HIS media room walls! Now, with Metallica on a little break, it seems that Lars has also taken up acting.
He’s been cast in HBO’s forthcoming drama, Hemingway & Gellhorn, alongside Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen. The film is described as “a drama centered on the romance between Ernest Hemingway and WWII correspondent Martha Gellhorn, Hemingway’s inspiration for For Whom The Bell Tolls and the only woman who ever asked for a divorce from the writer.” Ulrich is playing the role of Joris Ivens, a Dutch documentarian, according to Consequence Of Sound. The movie began filming in San Francisco this month and is due sometime in 2012.
So, look for Lars to be whining about not winning an Academy Award sometime next year. We’ve got that going for us.
