Eddie Veliz (guitars/vocals), Tony Castaneda (bass), and Pepe Clarke (drums) – collectively known as KYNG – released their second album “Burn the Serum” last month…and I can’t get it out of my car CD player. Seriously. It’s f***ing stuck and I can’t get it out!

Thankfully, it’s an incredible piece of work, and I can’t get enough of it. Blending the classic heaviness of bands like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin with the pop-leaning rock sound of Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age, they call their sound “California heavy.” I call it “Ear Candy”. If ear candy made your earholes bleed, and your internal organs shake loose. Damn, I love this album!

In an interview with Loudwire.com, Veliz talked about “Burn the Serum,”

We all had a blast working on this album. They (producers Andrew Aleklel and James Rota) both knew exactly what we wanted this album to sound like, and Andrew was able to capture the tones that we needed to create this album. He’s a f—ing wizard. Jim was able to get us to take the Kyng sound and refine it. Where we’d want to kick into a million different parts Jim made sure we were only using the best riffs and parts that were needed rather than “filler.”

KYNG have just released the first video from “Burn the Serum”, the riff heavy “Electric Halo”:

Your next chance to see KYNG live comes on May 24th, when they hit the stage at the River City Rockfest in San Antonio. Yeah Kid Rock and a bunch of other bands are playing, but Eddie promised to introduce me to his Mom. And I hear she’s hot. For your chance to score free tickets to RCR, hit up the V.I.P. section of this very website.
