Guns N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus has spoken about the current incarnation of Guns N’ Roses writing material for a new album. Fortus reveals the band has been “recording a lot of stuff” and “assembling ideas” for a potential fifth studio album.

You can imagine the success of a new Guns N’ Roses album, especially if it’s the first in over 25 years to feature Slash on guitar and Duff McKagan on bass. While speaking with the Stage Left podcast, Fortus shared, “We haven’t started recording anything, when I say that, as far as in the studio doing an album. We’ve been recording a lot of stuff, just ideas, assembling ideas, but not going into a studio and actually tracking a new record.”

When asked if he believes a new album is in the cards, Fortus answered, “Yeah, I do. It’s sort of too good not to happen at this point, that’s how I feel about it. This band is really a force right now and I definitely hope that we do and I think we’re all sort of counting on it and we’re also planning on it. I think the genius of Axl is his ability to assemble songs, from different parts, and make them feel cohesive as a song. I’ve never seen anybody able to do that in the same way.” [via Alternative Nation]

Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Not in This Lifetime…’ tour has been no less than historic. As of late April, the tour has grossed over $230 million and in late 2016, right after GN’R’s European dates were announced, over one million tickets were sold in 24 hours, proving what an insane force this tour has been.

The rock powerhouse just added another North American leg of their tour coming this fall and they also offered a tribute to Chris Cornell during their recent gig at Ireland’s Slane Castle, performing “Black Hole Sun.”
