Foo Fighters got the “Led” out at the 2012 Kennedy Center honors. The band performed a cover of Led Zeppelin‘s ‘Rock and Roll,’ and it did so with plenty of venom and vigor. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and co. should be proud.
This year’s Kennedy Center Honors celebrated Led Zeppelin, who didn’t actually take the stage and perform. But the Foos sure did, with Dave Grohl smashing away on the drums. During the high-octane set, the camera pans to the high-brow and expensively dressed crowd several times, showing people like Oprah Winfrey dressed to the nines and sort of rocking out to the band. Now that’s not something you see every day.
President Barack Obama was also on hand — he even gave a speech about Led Zeppelin — so it was quite an A-list audience for the Foos. We think they handled themselves quite well, despite what had to have been some serious pressure to deliver a top-notch set.
