Corey Taylor Weighs in on Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Debate Between Gene Simmons and N.W.A.

It all started when Simmons said in an interview that he was looking forward to the death of rap. During N.W.A.’s Rock Hall acceptance speech, MC Ren stated, “I want to say to Mr. Gene Simmons that hip-hop is here forever — get used to it!” Ice Cube added, “The question is, ‘Are we rock ‘n’ roll?’ and I say, ‘You g–damn right we rock ‘n’ roll!’ That led to more barbs exchanged between Simmons and members of N.W.A., with Simmons saying, “Respectfully — let me know when Jimi Hendrix gets into the hip-hop hall of fame. Then you’ll have a point.”
Well, we wanted to ask the always opinionated Corey Taylor his thoughts on the debate, so when Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez caught up with the Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman recently, she asked where he stood on the matter. “The more I look at what N.W.A. did, I mean, they influenced me, and I’m a rock ‘n’ roll guy,” said Taylor. “So, how do they not deserve to be in there?”
Taylor eventually took the question in another direction, explaining the problems he has with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in general. For his interesting thoughts on the whole induction process, check out the video interview above.
