The Revolver Golden God Awards went down in L.A. last night - honoring the year's best in Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Founded by Revolver Magazine, the world’s premiere hard rock and heavy metal periodical, this year’s Golden Gods Awards honored legendary Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose with the Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award and Joan Jett as the first female recipient of the Golden God Award.

Aside from the awards, the event always showcases performances from some of the genre's finest - and one of the highlights of the show for me this year was Zakk Wylde performing the Black Label Society song “In this River” in accompaniment to a video montage paying tribute to the hard-rock and metal fallen heroes we lost over the decade since Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell’s death. Well, except for the segment of the video that paid tribute to "Jani Lane of Motorhead"...huh???
