One of my favorite things on the WWE Network is all the old Mid-South Wrestling and UWF stuff. Not only do you get a glimpse of iconic characters like the Freebirds and Junkyard Dog but you get to see several wrestling legends like Sting and Ultimate Warrior in their early years. Plus, a lot of that stuff was shot for TV right here in Shreveport at the Fair Grounds, which is pretty awesome.

But, if you watch enough old Mid-South Wrestling, you quickly realize how campy and hilarious some of the angles were back then. You look at wrestling now compared to the 70s and 80s, it is a COMPLETELY different business. For every Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes, you had a dozen guys in the most ridiculous gimmicks you could ever dream up.

So, as a homage and to poke a little fun, the WWE has created and produced a new web series called Southpaw Regional Wrestling. I don't know who came up with the concept or how it got green lit by Mr. McMahon, but this may be the greatest use of the WWE YouTube page to date.

If you're a fan of wrestling, you have to check this out!
