Rob Zombie is enjoying a huge year in 2016. With his sixth album already out, the ringleader of horror has his sights locked on Sept. 16 which will see the release of his latest film, 31. A video trailer for the movie has just been released and can be viewed above.

Each one of Rob Zombie's movies has its own particular sense of frightening imagery and themes and 31 might be the most demented trip into his world yet. 31 focuses on five carnival workers who are kidnapped on the night before Halloween and are forced to take part in terrifying, sick parlor games. Each carnival worker must survive a round of 12 hours in a compound as legions of maniacal, killer clowns and other characters seek to extinguish the workers' lives.

In the trailer, a man gets ready, looking in the mirror describing the grease paint he wears presumably at the carnival. The signature dusty haze has once again permeated the set of Rob Zombie's films and matters are made worse when the gloomy, grey hues of the dimly lit steel compound spell uncertain doom for the lot of carnival workers. Two figures wearing powdered wigs appear to be the masterminds of the operation, laughing in Devilish delight at the carnage unfolding below.

From just these two-and-a-half minutes, it is easy to understand why Rob Zombie had to fight to get an R-rated approval, rather than the NC-17 label that was originally slapped on the film. The biggest problem an NC-17 rating carries is the risk of many theaters refusing to even show the film. After multiple edits were submitted, the director gained the rating he was seeking in January earlier this year.

Rob Zombie's sixth album, The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser, reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 charts. The frontman will be taking his show on the road in support of the record, embarking on a co-headlining tour under Korn starting July 19.
