It's a bad day for restaurants out on Youree Drive. Actually, it's been a bad year so far, but we'll get to that in a minute.

Last week, Tuesday to be exact, one of my favorite Burger joints in Shreveport closed it's doors. Of course, I'm talking about Smashburger out on Youree Drive.

Man I love that place, and certainly hate to see it go, especially after their Bossier City location closed last November.

To make matters worse, one of the more popular sushi joints in town announced it's closure this week. Sake Sushi, located across the street from Smashburger, closed down this week and offered minimal clarification on the signs outside.

The sings read, "We are closed - Sorry 4 the inconvenience." and, "Sorry to notify, Sake Sushi will be closing Saturday permanently. - Sorry 4 the inconvenience".

What a bummer.

As to why so many Youree Drive locations are closing, Facebook user Kip Cummings claims the rent went up to $14,000 a month.

Of course Mongolian restaurant, Genghis Grill closed nearby in January of this year.

If we find out more, we'll let you know.
