The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm warning for coastal Louisiana and predicts that remnants of the currently forming storm could reach the Shreveport - Bossier area by Thursday afternoon.

The storm, will will be named Cindy, already has sustained winds in the 40mph range and could become even stronger as it reaches the coast in an area somewhere east of New Orleans and the Texas border.

"The disturbance is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 4 to 8 inches with isolated maximum amounts of 10 inches over southeastern Louisiana, southern Mississippi and Alabama, and the western Florida Panhandle through Wednesday evening. A flash flood watch has been issued for all of south Louisiana from Tuesday morning to Thursday evening."
