There has NEVER been a better time to be a nerd.

Comic book movies are awesome, the books have some of the best writers in the world working on them...Hell, if you want comics, nerdy T-shirts, or anything else you can hit Wal-Mart and pick them all up.

It's a wonderful world, really.

But, long before the movie world and mainstream excepted comics, music totally embraced their nerdy side.

Musicians (rock bands in particular) fully embraced the nerd side decades ago and never really let go. Need proof? Here are some the best superhero- (and comic book-) inspired songs! If I missed something let me know.. .And no, I did not include that stupid Chad Kroger/Josey Scott song for the Spider-Man movie.

    Ramones - 'Spider-Man Theme'

Ok, technically this is a cover song. But, where the original was outdated and more or less dead, the Ramones came in and added it back into the American mainstream.

Would you know this song existed without the Ramones? Probably not.

    Prince - 'Batdance'

The Batman film franchise has inspired TONS of songs from various artist. But is there any song that more interesting than Prince's 'Batdance'? I think not...

I don't even know WHERE to start describing this song. All I know is the music video is awesome and I can't imagine the Joker destroying crap to anything else...

Anthrax - 'I Am The Law'

Anthrax may be the nerdiest band on this list. Over the years, one of Anthrax's many 'mascots' have been Judge Dredd! Hell, they even wrote a song about him. And its pretty damn good too!

The Kinks - "Catch Me Now I'm Falling"

On the album Low Budget, the Kinks have 2 Superhero songs. One about Superman and one about Captain America. I picked the Cap song. Mostly because I hate Superman, but partly because it is a better song.

Megadeth - 'Holy Wars... The Punishment Due'

I think we can all agree that Megadeth is pretty bad ass. The Punisher is also pretty bad ass. You combine the two and you get an epic, unforgiving thrash metal tune.

The song is partially about Frank Castle (The Punishment Due) and partially about troubles in Ireland at the time(Holy Wars part of the song). But, either way, this track is just killer! No pun intended.
