Is it just me or is it hard as hell to find a good barber shop in Shreveport/Bossier? Everything is hair stylists and beauty salons. Which is perfectly fine if you wanna get a hair frosting and smell like a chick. But, if you want to smell and look like a man, you need a good barber shop. And even though Barbers are a dying breed, we have several right here in the Shreveport area. So, before you run off and get a fresh shave and cut, check out this list.

Fant's Barber Shop

This is my personal favorite on the list. Located on Kings behind the Drug Emporium, this place is about as old school as it gets. When you walk in, you can smell the bay rum. There are deer heads and old school art plastered on the walls. It's like walking into a time warp. Aside from the old school barber feel, these guys (and gal) do great work for a good price. Last time I went, a hair cut and shave set me back like $20 with tip. You can't beat that.

Gonyea's Barber Shop

One of the main reasons Gonyea's isn't number one on my list is that they don't offer straight razor shaves, but everything else is spot on. Run by a Retired Airmen/current musician, this place runs neck and neck with Fant's on quality of work. Ten Bucks gets you in and out and looking good. If you wanna check out, it's located on Airline just up the street from Barksdale.

Southfield Barber Shop

This place isn't as good as the other two, but it is still a damn good barbershop. The atmosphere and interior isn't quite as manly and it feels more like a beauty shop than barber shop, but the quality of work is still pretty good. You'll still get a good, clean cut...it'll just cost you a few bucks extra.
