Nobody really knows when Cyber Monday became a thing, but many trace its history back to 2005 when Shop.org issued a press release on November 28th, the Monday immediately following Thanksgiving that year.  According to NationalDayCalendar.com, the release was entitled, “Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year” and announced a marketing revolution.

12 years later, Cyber Monday is bigger than ever and savvy on-line shoppers can find incredible deals on everything from electronics to toys, and even electronic toys.  There are great deals available on airline travel including vacation packages.

One of the most popular electronic gifts this Christmas is expected to be the Amazon Echo on which the on-line retail giant is offering nice discounts.  Amazon also has enticing deals on Sony TV's and Sennheiser headphones for the audio-visual buffs in your family.

Many of the big-box retailers are offering free shipping on just about every order including Best Buy and Target.  And you can also give back with Smile Amazon.  When you buy through smile.amazon.com you can donate 0.5 percent of your purchases to a chosen charity.

There are also plenty of deals to be had from Shreveport-Bossier businesses.  For example, Boomtown Casino is offering 30% off on one-night stays and 40% off on 2+-night stays.

Today is expected to be the biggest on-line shopping day in history, with over $6 billion in sales predicted.  If you want to stay up to date on the latest and greatest deals, CNET is holding a live Holiday Buyer's Guide on-line starting at Noon today.  They'll even have experts on hand to answer your questions.
