The air around iconic Lambeau Field in Green Bay Wisconsin will be filled with some very unique aromas on Saturday. There will be the expected fragrance of bratwurst sizzling and spitting on the grill. There will also be cheese curds-a-plenty too. However, these traditional Wisconsin tailgate favorites will be doing battle with the smell of gumbo, cracklin', boudin, and God knows what else these crazy fans from Louisiana might bring.

It's one of the biggest games on the college football landscape for the opening weekend. It is the LSU Tigers taking on the Wisconsin Badgers in a game in Green Bay. About 1200 Tiger fans will be boarding 6 chartered jets this morning to make sure the  Purple and Gold of LSU will be well represented among the red and white of Wisconsin.

We’ve been doing this Traveling Tigers thing for 33 years now, since 1984 and this is by far the largest trip we have ever done.

Those are the very enthusiastic words of Rhett Butler with the LSU Alumni Association as he spoke to the  Louisiana Radio Network.  Besides the fact that it's the season opener for LSU, the mystique of Lambeau Field has drawn even more fans into the mix for this year's contest.

It’s everybody’s bucket list and for two years we’ve been planning this trip so it’s a culmination of a lot of hard work by our alumni engagement team.

Based on ticket sales the LSU contingent won't be a small one. It is estimated that some 30-thousand very vocal and pumped up Tiger fans will be very visible in the stands on Saturday.

Many Tiger fans have set up tours of Lambeau and the surrounding area. It should be part of a great football weekend as both programs are very well respected through out the nation.

The Tigers are ranked Number 5 in the Associated Press preseason poll.  Wisconsin is just outside the Top 25 in the same poll. The Tigers are currently listed as a 10 point favorite by many of the Las Vegas odds makers.

Your local ABC television affiliate will have the game Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
