The LSU Tigers football team is heading to Orlando for a Citrus Bowl date with Louisville. Excuse me, it's the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl if we're going to call it what the sponsors want it called. Both teams have very passionate fan bases. However, the Cardinals faithful haven't seen anything like TigerNation on the prowl.

To say there will be an abundance of purple and gold in Orlando over the New  Year's holiday would be an understatement. Officials with LSU say fans around the state and the nation are securing their seats for the New Year's Eve contest.

Ticket Manager Brian Broussard told the Louisiana Radio Network that tickets are selling well, compared to some of the Tiger's recent bowl trips the sales are a little slow.

We’re moving along. It’s been a little slower than we would have hoped, but we’re still excited and trying to get fans to make the travel arrangements necessary to get out to the game.

LSU currently has about 5,000 seats available as part of their allotment of tickets. The prices are pretty good for those wanting to make the trip to Orlando and maybe make it a family vacation too.

The seats are all in the lower level primarily. The better ones that we have available range from $140 down to we’ve got some tickets still available at $31 that are in the end zone in the lower levels.

Broussard suggests that a very early kickoff time, 10 AM Central, might be a bit of a deterrent to Tiger fans who are used to playing under the lights at Death Valley.

It’s a little earlier than our fans are used to or like to have, but you can start early and continue throughout the night through New Year’s

One Tiger fan I spoke to say the early start time will only change his tailgate plans slightly. Instead of cold beer and Crown before the game, it will be Bloody Mary's and Mimosas. Regardless, it's going to be a good time and a great game.
