Every week, we wonder over and check out the regional Soundscan data from the Shreveport/Bossier/Texarkana. It's a fascinating look into the actual money-where-your-mouth-is trends for rock fans in our area. People can SAY what they want, but what they do with their money says more than what they do with their mouth. Which is why we like this info.

Which brings us to the data, what is Soundscan data? Don’t worry, we cover this every week…It’s basically the Shreveport Rock Album charts. The data is gathered a little differently than it was decades ago, since not everyone goes out and buys a physical CD or LP anymore. Here’s how it goes…

The data is gathered through the following method (according to Nielsen SoundScan):
Rankings are based on a formula blending pure album sales, track equivalent album sales (TEA), and streaming equivalent album plays (SEA).

Now mixed in with all of the Rock albums, are pop, rap, country, folk, and everything else that is sold in the area. So we have taken the time to pull out JUST the rock data for you.

Here are the Top 5 Rock Albums sold in the Ark-La-Tex for the week ending 4/14/16:

  2. Zakk Wylde "Book of Shadows II"
  3. Disturbed “Immortalized”
  4. Metallica "Metallica (The Black Album)"
