Time for our weekly look at the Soundscan data from the Shreveport/Bossier/Texarkana. The data is gathered through the following method (according to Nielsen SoundScan):

Rankings are based on a formula blending pure album sales, track equivalent album sales (TEA), and streaming equivalent album plays (SEA).

Now mixed in with all of the Rock albums, are pop, rap, country, folk, and everything else that is sold in the area. So we have taken the time to pull out JUST the rock data for you.

Here are the Top 5 Rock Albums sold in the Ark-La-Tex for the week ending 3/10/16:

  1. Red "Of Beauty and Rage"
  2. Green Day "American Idiot"
  3. Metallica “Metallica (The Black Album)”
  4. Disturbed “Immortalized"
  5. Panic! At The Disco “Death Of A Bachelor”

For comparison, here are last week's Top 5:

  1. Anthrax “For All Kings”
  2. Disturbed “Immortalized”
  3. Metallica “Metallica (The Black Album)”
  4. From Ashes To New “Day One”
  5. Panic! At The Disco “Death Of A Bachelor”

The Ark/La/Tex Rock Chart is extremely volatile, so to see a couple of names two weeks in a row is pretty impressive. Although to have Metallica's 'Black Album' sit in the Top 5 for two weeks in a row is a strong signal about the state of 'new' rock in our area as well.
