In case you haven't noticed, I'm a HUGE comic book nerd. I probably spend more time in Excalibur on the weekend than I do at the bar (which is saying a lot), and I'm probably WAY more excited than any grown man should be for the Louisiana Comic-Con. Now a days, it is more likely for the next Hollywood Blockbuster to be a Comic Book movie than it is to be anything else. Which is awesome, but also means the market is being flooded and a lot of stuff falls through the cracks. So, I'm going to go through 5 of the most underrated comic book movies of recent history.

THE GREEN LANTERN

Not sure why, but EVERYONE seemed to hate this movie. Now, don't get me wrong, this movie has it's fair share of problems but its really not that bad. Although, I must admit, I'm kinda glad it failed because now we're getting a Ryan Reynold's Deadpool movie!

ROAD TO PERDITION

This is not only one of the best mob movies of recent history, but it is probably one of the best comic book movies of all time. The story line, the acting from Tom Hanks and Paul Newman are outstanding...it's just a great flick!

THE PUNISHER

I'll never understand how all the Punisher movies fail. Punisher: War Zone was pretty good, but 2004's The Punisher starring Thomas Jane should have pushed the Punisher into mainstream success. The only place I see where this movie kinda failed is by hiring John Travolta and he wasn't even that bad. Hell, this was one of the few times a video game adaptation of the movie was half way decent. This is one I'm hoping the cult following can revive for a sequel sometime in the future.

DREDD

I think what killed this movie is Slyvester Stallone. The 90's Judge Dredd movie was just god awful. So, when someone finally did the Judge some justice in 2012 with Dredd, the movie fell on deaf ears. This one is another I hope fans (and Anthrax) can bring back for a sequel.

THE WOLVERINE

This movie is WAY better than anyone gives it credit for. The Wolverine is probably my second favorite X-Men movie and really dives into the character of Logan. My two major complaints with this movie is that is wasn't nearly bloody enough (which they kinda fixed in the Extended Cut) and that the villains were kind of weak. But those issues aside, the story arch and the journey into Logan's character really are fantastic!
