UPDATE:  Following an investigation by Shreveport police detectives, it was discovered that the 16-year-old was not shot by suspects driving a black Honda. That report was found to be false.

Information suggests the teen was with a group of other adolescents who were allegedly in possession of a handgun. It's believed the gun was mishandled, leading it to fire and strike the teen.

Authorities are still trying to identify and locate the other people involved.
