Caddo Parish Educators are working on a new sex ed curriculum that will be more current and do a better job of communication with young people.

The current "Sex Respect" curriculum was put in place in the mid '80s but it will be replaced with something that is more current and better relates to today's teenager.

The new curriculum is called  “Choosing the Best”.  Dr. Lamar Goree tells KEEL News a parent review committee will be appointed and public hearings will be held to to take a close look at the new curriculum before it is adopted.

Parents will be able to opt a child out of the program. Teachers are required to send opt-out letters home before starting the lessons. That’s the same process the school system follows now.
