Throughout the past year, the surviving members of Pantera have commented on the possibility of Zakk Wylde filling in for the late Dimebag Darrell if the band were ever to reunite. While it's all been speculation thus far, singer Phil Anselmo now reveals that he recently discussed the topic with Wylde himself.

Godsmack have always been vocal about how much of an influence Pantera had on their career and so it seemed only fitting that when the 2012 Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival rolled into Pantera’s home state of Texas that the band would pay homage to them at some point during the night.

It's a special night when you can get members of Pantera, Slayer and Anthrax on a stage together, so for those who couldn't make the 'Metal Masters 4' clinic in New York, a video stream has surfaced online to bring you all the hard-hitting goodness.

Louisiana metal legends Down are in front of a camera this week shooting the video for their new track 'Witchtripper'. No word yet on whether Phil, Pepper, Jimmy, Kirk, and Pat will be showing off their acting chops - or doing a live performance video, but hopefully, we'll have the results available for your viewing pleasure soon...

Today would have been Dimebag's 46th Birthday if that jackass wouldn't have taken his life much too soon.  It's been 8 years and it’s still hard to believe it’s been that long since we as a rock community lost one the nicest, coolest guys ever to WALK the face of the planet.

Pantera fans have been rejoicing in the 20th anniversary reissue of ‘Vulgar Display of Power‘ and the emergence of the lost single ‘Piss‘ for a good portion of the spring, but that’s not the last thing we’ll see from the legendary metal band this year.

In the early nineties Pantera were hitting their stride, and with the recent reissue of 1992’s Vulgar Display of Power’ twenty years later, it’s hard not to remember what an impact Pantera had on music during that era.

Metal supergroup Hellyeah is gearing up for the release of their new album 'Band of Brothers',  produced by Jeremy Parker,  who has also worked with  Godsmack and Evanescence. The band - featuring Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Damageplan), Chad Gray (Mudvayne), Tom Maxwell (Nothingface), Bob Zilla (Damageplan) and Greg Tribbett (Mudvayne) - recently released the video for the title track.  Check it out he

While Pantera fans would love to see some kind of reunion, whatever rifts that exist between bandmembers don't appear to be healing. In the meantime, there are still some options for metal fans, including Hellyeah.
