Dave Grohl has only lined up a few shows with his all-star side band the Sound City Players, but he has big plans for the project: he wants to take it on tour around the globe. "We plan to do shows all over the world," the Foo Fighters frontman tells Billboard of the group, which includes the likes of John Fogerty, Rick Springfield, Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks and Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick. Grohl assembled the band to help promote his new 'Sound City' movie.
One of the more popular Christmas songs this time of year is 'The Little Drummer Boy'. And after hearing it about 200 times over the past couple weeks, I got to thinking about all the unsung heroes of rock and roll, the drummers! So here is a list of some of the most sick and twisted drummer boys on the planet. And somehow, I get the feeling that most of these guys have stuffed a lot of stocking and dove down many dirty chimneys over the years...
After a triumphant performance of their new song 'Cut Me Some Slack' at the 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief at Madison Square Garden, one-time Nirvana members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear again joined forces with Beatles legend Paul McCartney to perform the song during last night's episode of 'Saturday Night Live.'
"Nirvana reunites for 12-12-12 concert. Paul McCartney will be filling in for Kurt Cobain." When I heard this yesterday, my first reaction was "Huh? WTF?!?!"
Dave Grohl. Maybe you've heard of him? SInger/drummer/guitarist/songwriter for a couple of decent bands...Nirvana? Foo Fighters? Yeah, that's him. If that weren't enough to put on a resume, now he has to throw 'movie director' in the mix.
Yes, Dave Grohl can pound the drums with the best of them, but he may have a little trouble dealing with the drumsticks presented by the city of his birth – Warren, Ohio.
Some people decide to join a rock band for the chicks. Some do it for the money. And some do it because they just love to play music. I dare say Dave Grohl fits into the latter. You can't get more famous than Dave. Safe to say he's got a few bucks in his wallet. Chicks? I'm sure he's got that covered. But fame and fortune don't seem to affect him.
In 2002, the Foo Fighters were at a crossroads...
When they went into the studio to work on material that eventually became the "One By One' album, they had just come off a two-year tour, various members were battling inner demons (read: Taylor Hawkins drug problems), and the sessions were going nowhere fast.
As the 2012 Grammy Awards slowly become a spotlit memory, one of the most successful and featured winners of “music’s biggest night” were Foo Fighters. With his band having captured five Grammy awards (only one less than pop star Adele), including Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance, frontman Dave Grohl revealed to MTV that he feels bad for beating out Dream Theater for that very award.
Dave Grohl has fashioned a documentary about the famed Sound City Studios – Nirvana‘s ‘Nevermind’ and Fleetwood Mac‘s ‘Rumors’ are part of the studio’s repertoire, to name few. A super short and not-very-informative but utterly evocative trailer has been released. It’s more of a teaser than anything.
Foo Fighters main man Dave Grohl is collaborating with an eclectic mix of rockers for a new project. First we brought you news that he was rocking out with metal veterans RATT. Now, Grohl has shared the studio with Stone Sour / Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor.
