[UPDATE 1:48 p.m.] The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch that affects several nearby areas, including the following parishes: Webster, Bossier, De Soto and Caddo. Panola and Harrison Counties in Texas are also included.

The tornado watch will last until 10 p.m. this evening.

[ORIGINAL STORY] A line of thunderstorms in Oklahoma and Texas that spawned several tornadoes, including the deadly twister in Moore, Ok., is expected to come to Ark-La-Tex this afternoon and early evening.

"The danger zone right now is over the Ark-La-Tex," cautioned NBC reporter and former KTBS anchor Charles Hadlock from Moore, Oklahoma.  "I'm not saying you are getting a tornado like this, but the chance of a severe storm with a tornado is very high today."

The storm is expected to be in the Ark-La-Tex in the late afternoon, some time between 3 and 5.  It will likely be capable of producing hail as well as more tornadoes.

"They may form a few super cells in northeast Texas, southwest Arkansas around 2 or 3 o'clock," KTBS meteorologist told Tim Fletcher on 1130 The Tiger.  "They'll be moving down our direction at four or five."

The later in the day the storms come, it should allow them to lose some energy as the sun sets and temperatures cool down.

It's important to always be prepared for any situation, especially when conditions are favorable for flooding, or in today's situation, a possible tornado.

If you should lose power, always remember you can hear us on 710 KEEL with live updates with what is happening across the Ark-La-Tex.
