Soundgarden Celebrate 20th Anniversary of “Superunknown [VIDEO]
Hard to believe, but it’s been 20 years since the release of Soundgarden’s “Superunknown”, the album that catapulted them from just another Seattle grunge band to legitimate contenders for heavyweight champion of rock.
Featuring “Spoonman”, “Black Hole Sun”, “Fell On Black Days”, “My Wave” and “The Day I Tried To Live”, “Superunknown” debuted at No. 1 and sold 9 million copies worldwide, including 5 million in the U.S.
Look for the 20th Anniversary edition – a 2-CD Deluxe version and a 5-CD Super Deluxe version – on June 3rd.
The band talk about the recording sessions for “Superunknown” in this video from the Guitar Center Sessions recorded in Austin, Texas recently during SXSW (Look for the entire show in May):
Soundgarden hook up with Nine Inch Nails starting on July 19th for what is expected to be one of the biggest tours of the year. See them in Dallas at the Gexa Energy Pavilion on August 17th.
