The News-Star is reporting that a small plane crashed into a McDonald's parking lot in Monroe. The only occupant was the pilot  who reportedly was injured seriously.

According to the news outlet, the plane originated from Illinois and is registered to Donald R. Jones of Sandwich, Illinois. The plane left Carmi Municipal Airport at about 8 a.m., and was last tracked at 10:30 a.m. at 3,800 feet. It crashed at around 10:55 a.m.

According to an eyewitness, the plane appeared to clip several pine trees causing it to spin out of control before crashing.

Monroe Municipal Airport Manager Ron Phillips added that the plane was "in pretty bad shape."

"Part of the plane is up against the McDonald’s sign post and it looks like maybe one car was damaged. The plane broke apart but it doesn't seem like any other major damage to any facilities around," Phillips added.
