Silvertide is back! Great news for me, as their 'American Excess' EP and 'Show and Tell' CD were mainstays in my car CD player for 2 or 3 years. Live this band just killed. To this day, some of the best live performances I've ever seen. And I've seen a few. I predicted that these guys would be one of the hottest bands in the world...and what do they do? They break up. Bastards.

Originally formed in Philadelphia in 2001, they dropped the aforementioned 'American Excess' in 2002, and quickly followed with 'Show and Tell' in 2003. Previous to the release of 'Show and Tell', they hit the road, touring nonstop through 2006 with Alter Bridge, Velvet Revolver, Motley Crue, and Van Halen. I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard through sources close to band, that Eddie Van Halen was so blown away by Silvertide that he bought them a tour bus. Now that's what I call making an impression.

In 2006, things got a little weird. Guitarist Nick Perri jumped on tours with Perry Farrell and Shinedown. With Perri out of pocket, singer Walt Lafty recorded a solo EP, and he and Silvertide bassist Brian Weaver started a new band called Automatic Fire, and released an EP called 'No Decoy'. Apparently, Silvertide was history.

Then in 2010, Perri and Lafty reunited in a band called Sinai. They released an album 'A Pinch of Chaos' in May of this year. While a solid effort, it just didn't have that "X Factor" - that unknown quality that makes you go 'Wow!" - the guys had in Silvertide.

Then in October, Silvertide's Facebook page popped back up, with photos and hints of a reunion. In November, they made it official....announcing that Silvertide would be making new music in 2013. Good news, indeed. Now if they'd only announce a tour.
