A Shreveport woman is behind bars in connection with a stabbing that left a local man dead.

Just after 5:30PM Tuesday, patrol officers were called to a reported stabbing at a home in the 5600 block of Kennedy Drive. They learned an adult male had been stabbed once in the upper body, allegedly by a female he knew. The man was taken to University Health, where he died from his wound.

Preliminary evidence collected by Violent Crimes detectives suggests the victim and suspect were involved in some sort of verbal dispute at the home, when the fight turned physical. At some point, the woman armed herself with a knife and stabbed the man.

Police were given a description of the woman and the car she was driving, and located her at a home in the 3000 block of Midway Avenue. They interviewed 30-year-old Doris Hightower, then charged her with one count of second degree murder. She's been booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
