Shreveport could stand to improve in two key areas to receive a higher ranking on this list.

When it comes to starting or adding to your family, there are a lot of questions that come to mind when deciding where to do it. Even though my husband and I don't have kids yet, we thought of how we want them raise and the kind of environment we want to influence them. This can sometimes be determined by the city you choose to live in.

That's where WalletHub comes in.

After seeing the results of their "Best & Worst Places to Raise a Family" list we know that Shreveport could stand to do some work for its families. Shreveport landed in the bottom five on their list. We rank at number 147 on their list of 150 cities.

When you break it down into specific categories, we fell into the bottom third of each area. WalletHub looked specifically at areas of direct impact like health, safety, education, child care, affordability, and fun activities. The only cities that did worse than us were San Bernardino, California, Detroit, Michigan, and Birmingham, Alabama.
