A 65-year-old Shreveport man has been found guilty of trying to defraud Sam's Town Casino more than five years ago.

According to the Caddo District Attorney's Office, it took a six-man jury just over 90 minutes to find Bruce Duffy guilty of issuing a worthless check for $1,500 or more.

The jury found that Duffy requested a line of credit and casino markers to gamble at Sam's Town in February 2011, but the $20,000 in markers issued were drawn on a closed account.

Duffy has prior convictions from 1975, 1977 and 1987 for drug and theft offenses. He will be back in court September 8 for post-trial motions. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $3,000. He's been returned to Caddo Sheriff's Office custody.
