High water and more rain is having an impact on the Red River.

The public boat launches (operated by the Red River Waterway Commission) on the Red River will be closed beginning March 6th in Caddo and Bossier parishes. These include the Teague Parkway facility in Bossier City, the Stoner Avenue facility in Shreveport, and the North Caddo/Bossier facility at the Hwy 2 bridge between Plain Dealing and Hosston.
Rainfall in the Red River watershed has resulted in a minor rise on the Red River in the Shreveport/Bossier area. Launching a boat into the river without the use of a dock is not recommended.People wishing to access the river are advised to contact the private marinas for current launching conditions. Boat ramps are expected to re-open as soon as conditions are deemed safe for public use by the Commission.
