In all honesty, we're not sure Sally isn't a professional mermaid, though she claims to be a professional surfer.

Australian Sally Fitzgibbons has counted surfing among her many passions since she was 6-years-old, but it's never been the only sport in her life. Over the years she has competed professionally on touch football, soccer and cross-country running teams, in addition to her career as a wave-rider.

At the age of 14 Sally became the youngest ever surfer to win the ASP Pro Junior, and that same day, finished second at the World Qualifying Series Billabong Easter Girls Festival. By 16, she traveled to Portugal for the USA U18 World Titles and won. At 17 she won two more world titles.

In 2008 she made the record books by becoming the youngest World Surfing Tour qualifier in ASP history at the Women's Elite World Surfing Tour, and three years later she won the event. She's kind of been on a streak ever since. As of February 2012 when she won the Australian Open, Sally now holds the record as the first person to ever hold the US and Australian Opens of Surf titles at the same time.

Sally is on a mission to be the world champion of surfing and "the best athlete she can be", which pairs up nicely with her thirst for adventure, and world travel.
