Rob Zombie Narrates PSA For Mayhem Festival ‘Puppy Rescue Mission’

Rob Zombie may not be part of this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, but he has a history, having headlined last year’s run. And he was more than happy to take part in a new Mayhem Festival initiative by narrating a PSA for the ‘Puppy Rescue Mission.’

The Puppy Rescue Mission (TPRM) was founded by Anna Cannan, who came up with the idea when her fiancé Chris was deployed to Afghanistan. The organization’s primary mission is to help bring home some of the furry companions who assisted our soldiers in a war zone. The animals will have homes waiting for them, but just need assistance in getting to the U.S. It’s TPRM’s idea that the animals have not only at times physically saved some of the soldiers from harm, but have also been an emotional support system for those looking for a sense of home and normalcy.

Strati Hovartos has filmed a new PSA for the organization, with Zombie signing on to narrate the piece. Zombie also has ties to the Puppy Rescue Mission, donating one of his trucks that was featured on History Channel’s ‘Counting Cars’ to the organization.

The rocker stated, “Soldiers in Afghanistan would find these dogs and bond with them and sneak them on the bases, even though they weren’t supposed to have them. It was probably the only moment of sanity for these guys, when they spent time with them … But they weren’t allowed to take them home, and if they could, it was so expensive. That was a cause I could really understand and get behind.”

Saiga, the dog featured in the PSA, is an actual rescue animal from an Afghanistan war zone, and he was adopted by Mayhem Festival producer John Reese. Learn more about the Puppy Rescue Mission at this location and check out the PSA above.
