Louisiana hip hop superstar Master P will be starring in an upcoming feature film about the Angola 3, a trio of inmates at the Louisiana State Penitentiary whose story became a national sensation after it was learned they spent decades in solitary confinement. Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, will portray Robert King, who spent nearly 30 years in solitary before his release in 2001.

The film, with a budget of about $2.5 million, will be titled "Angola 1, 2 & 3". Shooting is set to begin around mid-August 15. Screenwriter Phillipe Diaz will also be director on the project.

Producers have promised that a portion of the film's profits will go to the three: King, Albert Woodfox, released this past February after 43 years in solitary, and the estate of Herman Wallace, who died days after his release in 2013. He had spent more than 41 years in solitary.

Woodfox and Wallace were in Angola for a 1971 armed robbery and were convicted the next year for the murder of an Angol guard. Proson officials King was involved, though he was never charged. All three, who maintained their innocence, were then placed in solitary confinement.
