Having your vehicle pilfered is quite an unsettling experience, but Puddle of Mudd vocalist Wes Scantlin's solution to this situation left some of his neighbors even more unsettled, resulting in a visit from bomb squad.

According to TMZ, law enforcement sources stated that Scantlin attempted to make it look as if it would be quite dangerous if someone tampered with his vehicle again in order to scare off thieves who had reportedly broken into his car multiple times in the past. He allegedly did this by placing a radio under one car with wires leading into the motor, while a second car nearby had wires that led from the door to the gas tank.

But before Scantlin had a chance to scare off any would-be burglars, his neighbors reported the suspicious vehicles and it wasn't long before the local bomb squad arrived and evacuated four surrounding buildings in the West Hollywood area in order to check out Scantlin's cars.

According to reports, the singer was not charged with a crime, but he was scolded by police for his theft deterrent attempt. Scantlin had a number of run-ins with police in recent years. Just this year alone, he was arrested for trespassing and vandalizing his former home, was arrested on a previous outstanding warrant and was sought by police again after he failed to show for a court date.
