Deadly Mosquito

One of the most aggravating and potentially dangerous results of all this flooding will be the huge spike in the numbers and types of mosquitoes that make every trip outside an odd combination of karate and zumba workout for those of us in the Bayou State. We always get mosquitoes, but flooding brings more than the too  many we usually have, and it increases the risk that they might carry diseases. The mosquito that  carries the Zika virus is already active in southeast Louisiana, according to Dr. Frank Welch with the Department of Health and Hospitals. He urges people to remove any standing water around their home. wear repellent and light, long sleeved shirts and put fresh screens in your windows. Mosquito eggs can lie dormant for years without water, which just doesn't seem fair at all. And now we have had more than enough water to raise an impressive array of dormant, nasty, stupid, stinking mosquitoes.
