Hard to believe it’s been 20 years since “Alive“, “Even Flow“, and “Jeremy” hit the airwaves, and Pearl Jam, along with fellow Seattle bands Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains, changed Rock music forever.

This year, the band is celebrating 20 years of musical success with a multi-media bang – special edition archive recordings, a book, a blow-out mini-festival, several tour dates throughout the fall, and a new documentary directed by Academy Award winning director and writer Cameron Crowe.

20 DAYS OF PEARL JAM COUNTDOWN

Leading up to the release of the documentary “Pearl Jam Twenty”, they’ve launched the “20 Days of Pearl Jam Countdown”  – each day from September 1 through 20, Pearl Jam will offer fans an exclusive piece of content (audio, video, or literary).  For example, on day four of the countdown, they released some very cool, early footage as the band works on creating the song “Daughter,” on the road:

On Day 6 of the countdown, they blew me away, with video of their entire Day 1 set from the Alpine Valley festival. Watch the entire set here.

TALK SHOW APPEARANCES

Leading into the weekend, on day 7 (Thursday, September 8th), Pearl Jam performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, with Eddie Vedder performing with Fallon on the BP protest song “Balls in Your Mouth”, and then later with the band – performing the new song Olé:

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT…

On Friday, they were back on the Fallon show, performing an amazing version of “All Night” with Fallon’s house band, The Roots:

PEARL JAM TWENTY,  THE DOCUMENTARY – SNEAK PREVIEW OF EXCLUSIVE FOOTAGE

This week, the countdown continues, leading up to the one day release of “Pearl Jam Twenty” on September 20th. It will be released nationally at select theaters for a week on September 23rd. If you haven’t seen enough to have you salivating at the thought of hitting the theater for this one, I’ll leave you with some exclusive footage from PBS:

Twenty years of Pearl Jam.   Hundreds of show for millions of people.  Nine albums.  Dozens of great songs  ‘Courduroy’ and ‘Evenlow’ are probably still my favorites, but, I’ve grown fond of’The Fixer’ here recently…What are your favorites?
