Parents of students at Shreve Island Elementary are furious after an unexpected change to its school bus route. The parents say the change to the route forced 15 kids, some as young as 4, to walk home unsupervised for almost half mile with parts of the journey going through a construction zone. The kids were dropped off at a busy intersection near Zeke and Anderson.

The school board says the driver had no choice in the matter and that the parents were told of the changes on Monday. The route is expected to go back to normal later this week.
