While the 2014 Grammys are over and done, and few rock and metal luminaries walked away with big awards. Most of the rock awards were handed out during the untelevised pre-ceremony, which began at 1PM PT on Sunday (Jan. 26) in Los Angeles. Early rock winners included Dave Grohl's 'Sound City: Real to Reel' soundtrack for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Black Sabbath's 'God Is Dead?' for Best Metal Performance.
Current members of Guns N' Roses and the Rolling Stones form the nucleus of a new group called Dead Daisies, which just concluded an Israeli tour. A EP of new band-written material is also in the works.
A big congrats is in order to Black Sabbath and Queens of the Stone Age as they're among the rock leaders for the 2013 Grammy Awards. Each of the acts received three nominations when the Grammy Awards nods were revealed Friday night (Dec. 6).
The Bass Player Live! Concert & Awards Show honored musicians who too often get overlooked, though there was hardly any introduction needed for the night's top honoree -- Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler. Hartke helped line up some of metal's biggest names on Saturday night (Nov. 9) at Los Angeles' Fonda Theatre to salute the man who helped paved the way for their own careers.
Nine Inch Nails will kick off their ‘Tension 2013’ North American Arena Tour later tonight (Sept. 28) in St. Paul, Minn. As the trek gets underway, the band has added some extra muscle to their touring lineup.
The Rolling Stones will perform at London's Hyde Park tomorrow (July 6), and the band wants the stage, and its view from it, to look exactly like it did 44 years ago, when they famously played a free gig there.
