Can we just say we had an absolute blast at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans over the weekend? Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Coheed & Cambria, Tomahawk, Jack White and more all packed City Park for the 14th year of the fest. But the one band we were most excited about were Metallica. We've seen them before and we'll see them again, but this was definitely a unique experience for us.

Not very long ago, Metallica played what we thought was going to be their last show of 2012 at Outside Lands in San Francisco, Calif. We didn't get to make that show so we just figured we'd have to wait until 2013 to catch 'em. But then, after Billie Joe Armstrong announced he was entering rehab for alcoholism, we got the greatest early X-Mas gift ever: Metallica were announced as the new headliners for the second night of the Voodoo fest in place of Green Day!

Playing a solid two hour set and always showing hardcore love to NOLA and Louisiana, Metallica couldn't have played a better show. Opening with 'Hit the Lights' and ending with 'Seek & Destroy,' the night was packed with loud music, pyro and fireworks. Needless to say, we had a little bit of fun, and we get the feeling that the thousands of 'Tallica fans did, too.

So as we recover from headbanging all weekend long, we though we'd share some of our favorite photos with you from Metallica's Voodoo set. Our friends at Loudwire took some great photos, too, so when you're done here, go check them out!
