Megadeth Launch Music Video for ‘Super Collider’

Megadeth have just unveiled a music video for their newest album’s title track, ‘Super Collider.’ The clip tells the story of two students who fall for each other after a mishap in science class, only to be torn apart by a furious father played by Megadeth’s own Dave Mustaine.

‘Super Collider’ was inspired by the Large Hadron Collider, the world’s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator. A picture of the engineering wonder was even used for the ‘Super Collider’ album art, so it makes sense that the science theme continues into the ‘Super Collider’ music video.

During chemistry class, a teacher played by bassist David Ellefson is allowing his students to mix chemicals. But suddenly, the story’s main character mixes too much blue stuff with white stuff, creating a somewhat violent reaction that sends him falling backwards to the floor. Despite the mishap, a female classmate helps the kid up, beginning a relationship between the two.

Later on, the two students are building a rocket together, but the girl’s father (played by Dave Mustaine) is all like, “Don’t you do science with my daughter!” while guitarist Chris Broderick plays catch with a kid in the background. After stomping on the rocket, Mustaine takes his daughter away and forces her to change schools.

Flash forward to their 10-year reunion at ‘Elysian Fields’ High School, where drummer Shawn Drover can be seen playing a janitor. The male lead is still somewhat nerdy, but jackpot! — the chick is now super hot! Finally reunited, the duo run out to the football field where a seriously gigantic rocket is unsuspiciously parked in the middle of the field. Luckily, the ending doesn’t involve the U.S. armed forces shipping them off to Guantanamo Bay for suspected terrorism. We’ll let you see for yourself how it ends.
