Residents of Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge were greeted to a ghastly sight when they noticed a red liquid flowing on to their streets.  In what can only be a worst-case scenario, that liquid is human blood.

According to WBRZ, city investigators determined that the morbid (and quite literal) river of blood was not coming from any sewer system.  The source was actually a holding tank of blood mixed with formaldehyde at the Greenoaks Funeral Home that had started leaking earlier in the day. The macabre emissions had flowed down a back road before hitting the city street.  After discovering the leak, it took about 20 minutes for the funeral home owners to patch it up.  Luckily, officials from the City of Baton Rouge Department of Environmental Services have determined that the terrifying tributary will not contaminate the city's water or sewer system.

As I'm sure you could guess, this kind off situation is not exactly healthy for anyone involved.  No charges or citations have been filed against the funeral home at this time, but officials did note that Greenoaks Funeral Home is under new management and did not have a permit at the time of the incident.
