Welcome to Episode 11 of the Loudwire Podcast! This time around, we picked up the phone and gave Philip H. Anselmo a call.

There’s plenty to talk about with a guy who’s been in Pantera, Superjoint, Down and a ton of other great bands, but since this was recorded a few weeks after the election, we just talked about life with the legendary vocalist.

Plenty of social issues are covered on Superjoint’s new album, Caught Up in the Gears of Application. One of the most insightful may be “Sociopathic Herd Delusion,” which speaks to the dangers of group-thinking in mass. We spoke to Anselmo about where he sees this and the importance of being an individual.

Anselmo’s hometown of New Orleans is one of the richest spots for American metal. Phil’s been a part of the scene for decades, so we wanted to know what’s his all-time favorite NOLA metal album. He even elaborated on some essential non-metal New Orleans tunes.
